BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Visiting Notre Dame of Maryland University scored seven times in both halves as they doubles-up the host Owls 14-7 in non-league action on the Main Line Thursday afternoon.
Notre Dame jumped out to a 4-0 lead before back-to-back goals from junior Kathleen Magner and freshman Claire Johnson twenty second apart cut their deficit in half. The Gators tacked on three more goals over the final 12 minutes of the half to take a 7-2 lead heading into the intermission.
In the second, it took only 3:38 for the Owls to register a goal as freshman Georgina Dominique recorded her 12th goal of the season. Notre Dame answered with back-to-back tallies from Brittany Peddicord to take a 9-3 lead.
Twenty seconds later, sophomore Ashton Dwyer took a Magner pass and beat the Gator's Mary Briggs to the low post of the net. Just over 25-seconds later, Magner netted her second goal of the game to pull the Owls within four, 9-5.
Notre Dame's scored four unanswered goal from Alli Terry before Magner notched her third goal of the game and 30th tally of the season with 14:26 left in the game.
Dwyer netted an unassisted goal just over two minutes two minutes later to pull the owls within six, 13-7.
With 6:21reamaining, the final goal of the game was scored as Notre Dame's Molly Murray found the back of the net.
In addition to her three goals and one assists, Magner added 10 draw controls and six groundballs. Dwyer caused five turnovers. Sophomore goalie Katie Fong posted eight saves and scooped up three groundballs.
The Owls will close out the 2013 season when they host Gettysburg College on Saturday, April 27, at 1:00 pm on Senior Day.
