Lacrosse Honors Seniors Before Game Against Bryn Athyn

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Seniors Katherine Kilmer and Kathleen Magner scored three goals each as they led the Owls in their final collegiate home game 12-8 over visiting Bryn Athyn College on Senior Day.

Bryn Mawr and Bryn Athyn exchanged goals over the opening 10 minutes of action. The Lions scored first as Emma Gross got BAC on the board. Sophomore Claire Johnson got the Owls on the board at 26:36 with help from junior Ashton Dwyer.

The Lions regained the lead just over a minute later before sophomore Georgina Dominique tied the game up with an assisted goal at 24:34. Bryn Athyn recorded back-to-back goals to take a 4-2 lead. The Owls, tied the game with back-to-back from Magner and Kilmer separated by three minutes to give the game its third deadlock.

Over the final seven minutes of the opening half, Bryn Athyn outscored Bryn Mawr 2-1 to take the 6-5 lead into the half. The Owls' goal was an unassisted tally by Dominique at 2:24.

It didn't take long for the Owls to tie the game and then take the lead in the second-half. Magner scored Bryn Mawr's sixth goal of the game at 28:08. After more than 10 minutes of scoreless action, Kilmer took a pass from freshman Alison Spain and went between the pipes to give the Owls the lead for good.

Bryn Mawr added three consecutive goals over a span of 2:10 as Dominique (14:37), Dwyer (12:56) and Kilmer (12:27), recorded goals to take a 10-6 lead.

Over the final eleven minutes of the game, both teams combined to score four alternating goals. Spain got her first goal of the game at 9:58 while Magner recorded her third goal of the game with 10-seconds remaining way of a free position shot.

Bryn Athyn was led by Haley Schmucker with four goals. Erika Hyatt added two tallies for the Lions.

In addition to Magner's three goals, she posted five draws and four ground balls as classmate Kilmer won one draw. Dwyer ended the day with three assists while Spain handed out a pair.

Freshman goalie Katie Alpert posted 13 saves en route to her 6th win of the season.

Also honored before the game was juniors Ashton Dwyer and Saira Kitagawa. Dwyer will graduate in December while Kitagawa was attending Bryn Mawr as an exchange student for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The 2014 season concludes on Saturday when they Owls travel to Gettysburg for a 1:00 pm showdown with the Bullets.
