Kiely Scores for Owls in Close Contest at Dickinson

Elizabeth Kiely September 2018

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr soccer team gave Dickinson all they could handle earlier Saturday afternoon. The Owls defense played solid all day, and Elizabeth Kiely netted a big goal for Bryn Mawr. However, Dickinson did just enough to squeak by, using a first-half flurry to hold on for a 3-1 win.

The hosts went in front early with two goals in the first ten minutes of action. Bryn Mawr did a great job of rebounding from those early goals, buckling down on defense and allowing the offense a chance to strike back. And strike back they did, as Kiely put home an unassisted goal in the 25th minute.

That tally got the Owls back within one with plenty of time to play. However, Dickinson padded their lead back up to two goals with another strike just five minutes later. They were able to make that 3-1 lead stand up for the rest of the game, taking a 3-1 win on the day.

Bryn Mawr will be right back in action on Tuesday when they return home to battle Swarthmore. Game time against the Garnet is set for 4:00 PM on Applebee Field.
