LANCASTER, Pa. – It's been a little over a month since the Bryn Mawr track and field team last competed, but despite the last few weeks off, the team showed zero signs of giving up as they kicked off the 2022 portion of the season in dominating fashion. The team traveled to Franklin & Marshall to compete in the Coach I Invitational and brought home numerous PRs and qualifying times with captain Kass Wojcik leading the pack.

The Owls made their first appearance of the day in the 60m dash where Wojcik, Kass Pasia and Alex DeLeuze got off to a hot start with all three qualifying for conferences. Wojcik took first place in the second heat and placed 12th overall with a time of 8.45. Pasia followed right behind in second place of the heat and 14th overall at 8.50, a new PR for the freshman. DeLeuze also picked up a new PR, coming in at 9:03.

The trio kept their momentum going later in the day as they competed in the 200m dash. Wojcik took third overall (27.45), while Pasia (28.37) and DeLeuze (29.91) placed fourth and tenth respectively, setting new PRs in the process.

Other notable performances from the day include Lauren Kitay who finished 11th overall in the 800m with a time of 2:43.41 and Ellie Schumacher who rounded out the top 10 in the mile run at 6:08.51. Uma McGuire also joined the list of Owls who set PRs today as she set a time of 6:44.65 in the mile.

"Today's meet presented a great opportunity for us to shake off some rust after winter break," said head coach Jason Hewitt. "We look forward to adding more athletes to the group next week when we head to Ursinus."

Next up, the team will compete in the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, January 22. Meet time is currently TBA.
