BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr volleyball program has released their schedule for the upcoming fall, with a busy slate ahead for the Owls over the next two months. The volleyball squad will feature a home-heavy schedule this season, as 12 of their 21 regular season matches are scheduled for the Class of 1958 Gymnasium this fall.
The Owls will open up the season with a non-conference matchup on the road at Arcadia on Thursday, September 1. The two programs have faced off six times in recorded history, with Bryn Mawr's most recent win over the Knights coming in a five-set thriller in September of 2008. Alvernia has won the last two matchups between the programs.
After that road opener, the Owls will get four straight home matches starting with a contest against Keystone. Bryn Mawr will welcome the Giants to campus for the first-ever meeting between the two programs, with the Owls' home opener slated for a 1:00 PM start on Saturday, September 3. Bryn Mawr will follow that up by welcoming Immaculata to campus for a Tuesday night match on September 6 before hosting Cairn and Rosemont on September 10 for a tri-match between the three teams.
September will also see the Owls play non-conference matches on the road at Valley Forge (September 14) and Penn State Abington (September 16) and at home against Bryn Athyn and New Jersey City for another tri-match (September 17) and Gwynedd Mercy (September 21).
Centennial Conference play kicks off for Bryn Mawr on Saturday, September 24 as the team welcomes Gettysburg to campus for a 1:00 PM match. The Owls will then travel just up the road to Bi-College rivals Haverford for their first league road match on Wednesday, September 28. Bryn Mawr will then wrap up the month of September with one final non-conference contest, as they will travel up to King's for a matchup with the Monarchs on Thursday, September 29.
October will see a full slate of league action as Centennial Conference play continues. Bryn Mawr gets the month started with a matchup on the road at Dickinson on Saturday, October 1. The Owls then get some home time the following week, as they will welcome Washington College to campus on October 5 for a midweek showdown with the Shorewomen. Then, defending Centennial Conference champions Johns Hopkins come to town on Saturday, October 8 for a big showdown.
The Owls return to the road the following week with a trip to Ursinus on Wednesday, October 12 before coming back to campus for their final two home games of the regular season. McDaniel comes to town on Saturday, October 15 for a 1:00 PM matchup, and then the Owls wrap up their home slate with a contest against Muhlenberg on Wednesday, October 19 in the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
Bryn Mawr will close their regular season with two road contests. The Owls will travel to Lancaster to take on Franklin & Marshall on October 22 before capping off their season at Swarthmore on Tuesday, October 25.
Centennial Conference playoffs begin on Wednesday, November 2 with first-round action. Semifinals and finals are scheduled for November 5 and 6.
