Orli McGuire-Berk fall 2021

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Bryn Mawr traveled over to McDaniel earlier Saturday for a Centennial Conference matchup against the Green Terror. Nicole Wood led the way for the Owls with seven kills and seven digs. McDaniel proved to be a stalwart opponent through, as the Green Terror used 16 kills from Anna Jezerski and 25 assists from Brenna Campbell to roll to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-8) win.

The first set was a tight affair early on, as several errors from McDaniel and an ace by Wood kept the game tied at 3-3. However, McDaniel went on a run, winning nine of the next ten points to take a commanding 12-4 lead in the first frame. The Owls tried to battle back, using kills from Zoe Boxill and Nicole Wood along with some errors from McDaniel to climb back within seven. However, the hosts were able to hang on through the rest of the set, ultimately taking a 25-18 win of the opening frame.

In the second set, McDaniel once again got off to a hot start, using several kills and aces to run out to a 7-2 lead. Boxill and Wood each added a pair of kills midway through the set to help Bryn Mawr stay in contact with the Green Terror, and Sydney Munnerlyn added another kill late in the set for the Owls. However, McDaniel used 17 kills in the set to ultimately run out to the 25-14 win in the set.

The hosts now had all the momentum in the contest, and that carried through in the third set. McDaniel jumped out to an 8-1 advantage in the third frame. A couple errors and a kill by Sydney Collins helped the Owls climb back within five points, but the Green Terror won five straight points from there to bump their lead back out to ten. Aaliyah Joseph got a kill late in the set for the Owls, but McDaniel ultimately closed out the frame 25-8 to clinch the 3-0 win on the day.

Bryn Mawr will be right back in action on Tuesday night when they hit the road once again for a matchup at Muhlenberg. Game time for that Centennial Conference contest is set for 7:00 PM in Allentown.
